Providing care is also a social emergency.
In the Île-de-France region, Hirondelle de l’Avenir is expanding its range of community-based social and aesthetic care initiatives aimed at people in highly vulnerable situations.
Over the past few months, our “swallows” have been active in community centers, shelters, medical and social service facilities, and grassroots organizations, working with a wide variety of people who all share one thing in common: vulnerability: women in precarious situations, single mothers with children, isolated men in shelters, people receiving addiction treatment, and refugees made vulnerable by their life experiences and isolation.
At each of these locations, we offer practical wellness services: facials, manicures, massages, eyebrow shaping, makeup, hair styling, and barber services—as well as, depending on the event, sophrology workshops, clothing distributions, hygiene kits, and wellness kits.
These initiatives were carried out in particular with the support of those who placed their trust in us: the City Hall of Paris’s 11th arrondissement, the Le Picoulet Social Center, Espoir Goutte d’Or / Association Aurore, Parcours d’Exil, Cités Caritas, the Solidarité Roquette Social and Cultural Center, as well as our dedicated partners Leon & Harper, for the distribution of clothing, and UNISOAP for the distribution of beauty and hygiene kits.
Beyond just care, these workshops offer a true opportunity for respite, dignity, and reconnection with oneself. They allow participants to feel seen in a different light, to regain confidence, and to rebuild social connections and a sense of community.
Today, we want to expand this initiative in the Île-de-France region. To increase the number of these workshops for the most vulnerable populations, we need partners to provide in-kind donations, volunteers, and financial support.
